MAKING STaR SEEds
Imagine an Interstellar seed. Did complex networks of life and information arrive on Earth? and what will we send into the Universe?
Extending from dialogues around holographic messages for Interstellar probes and my teaching on Artificial Intelligence, the Star Seeds are video loops created using AI to combine two public domain data sets Ernst Haeckel’s Art Forms from Nature and the NASA Image and Video Library.
During the first stage of the project, we didn’t have access to video AI so we used Photoshop to generate individual frames. These AI images became stop motion animations and the prompts for the videos.
The Star Seeds project considered the ethics of AI in relationship to copyright, however with the expanding toll of AI on Earths resources I have recoiled from exploring AI - particularly for video where longer clips take exponentially more energy and water.
